A lady in my book club kept talking about this book and I knew I didn’t want to read it. Last month, I was in Target and found one copy for $8.00. I couldn’t resist purchasing it. The novel is set in a series of letters to her husband about their son. The mother knew early on, there was something not right about him, but the father always defended the son. The book is beautifully written, but the subject matter is brutally honest. There is a lot of layers to this book, women who are conflicted about having a child, criticism about America, and violence in schools. We had one of our best discussions about this book at book club last week. Can I recommend this book? I don’t know. I just know I had to read it.
